Jim Wilson’s first book “Occupation: Rock & Roll” Coming 2021 from Rothco Press

Jim Wilson. Occupation: Rock & Roll

Jim Wilson is an American guitarist in the band Motor Sister and previously in Mother Superior and Rollins Band. He is a professional musician known for his soulful vocals and powerful blues-rock guitar work. He also plays guitar live and in the studio with U2 / Bob Dylan producer Daniel Lanois and his vocal harmony project known as Heavy Sun, who recently provided music for the award-winning Red Dead Redemption II video game soundtrack. Wilson has also played with the legendary band Sparks, (notably in 2008 during the Sparks Spectacular where they played each of their 21 albums in its entirety over 21 nights in London) and additionally has toured with country songstress Emmylou Harris.

A founding member of the Los Angeles rock trio Mother Superior, Jim Wilson also has what Joe Elliott (Def Leppard) described as a “fantastic solo career.” His latest solo album with drummer/producer Phil Jones, “Now Playing,” features a variety of musical styles with guest appearances by Marc Ford (The Black Crowes), Mike Campbell (Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers) and Spooner Oldham. Shindig! Magazine wrote, “All kids of early ‘70s feels abound on each track. An album that gets better with each listen.” After releasing an EP in 2019 called “Rockers Delight” (featuring a guest vocal from Bernard Fowler, of the Rolling Stones), Wilson and Jones are currently finishing up their follow-up album.

2021 will also see the release of the second Motor Sister album featuring all-new songs written by Wilson. The rock supergroup consists of singer/guitarist Wilson with Scott Ian (Anthrax), Pearl Aday, Joey Vera and John Tempesta (The Cult) and the album will be released by Metal Blade Records.

Wilson has written songs and played on recordings for many artists including Alice Cooper, Meat Loaf, George Clinton, Iggy Pop, Lemmy and Henry Rollins.
